Friday Random Ten: Independence Edition

You know what day it is! Time to put your digital music player on shuffle (Winamp at work this week), click play, and list the first ten songs that show up. You must resist the temptation to click past the bad or embarrassing songs.

  1. “Carry Me Home” (the Murmurs)
  2. “Upon This Tidal Wave of Young Blood (Live)” (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah)
  3. “Simple Lessons” (Candlebox)
  4. “Misery” (Soul Asylum)
  5. “Cities” (Doveman)
  6. “Plowed” (Sponge)
  7. “Brain Stew” (Green Day)
  8. “Don’t Stay Home” (311)
  9. “Twilight” (the Mobius Band)
  10. “Cumbersome” (Seven Mary Three)

Most Favorite: Seven Mary Three’s “Cumbersome” from their 1995 release American Standard.

Least Favorite: Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s live version of “Upon This Tidal Wave of Young Blood”, only because I was sadly disappointed by their live shows. (Let the flaming begin!)

Seen Live: Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, 7 March 2006.

Interesting Note: Last week, while getting ready for work, I flipped on XPN in the middle of a song. I vaguely recognized the band, but couldn’t place them. Turns out it was Soul Asylum! Their upcoming album The Silver Lining will be released on July 11, 2006.

Other FRTers: Ashley, Ben (on its way!), Brian, Ellen, Howard, Jill
