Road Trip Mix

This week K and I embark on an epic journey into Canada, and I estimate the drive will probably take about 9 hours, excluding rest stops and gas-ups. This will be my longest road trip with another passenger in the car, and I don’t want to get cranky (as I am oft to do) and piss her off.

I’ll be bringing along some DVDs for the laptop and an audiobook for the iPod, but the road trip mix is an essential part of the drive.

I’ve found a few lists online, including the Road Trip Playlist from Greer Murphy at The Hoya and the Ultimate Road Trip Playlist by plumbers on FIQL (a playlist-driven website). Searching tags gives us driving at Last.fm and road trip music at Technorati. The All Music Guide theme browser publishes a road trip theme.

I also discovered a really good article on using iTunes Essentials for Road Trips from Derrick Story. Not a playlist of road trip music, per se, but Derrick gives good advice on combing the iTunes Essentials playlists for tracks to add to your own mix.

Myself? I’ll be adding tracks later today; the playlist is one of the few things I haven’t packed yet. I’ll publish it when we get back.

Please add your own suggestions, lists, links, and tracks in the comments!
